Nelo terms of use

What the service does, what is free, how the envelope of voice minutes works, and the legal notice.

Last updated: 3 September 2026

1. Purpose

These terms govern the use of the Nelo iPhone app. Installing or using Nelo means accepting them. If you do not accept them, simply do not use the app.

2. What the service does

Nelo is a job interview practice app. You import your CV, you add a job posting, and you sit a spoken interview with a recruiter simulated by an artificial intelligence that has read your profile and the posting. At the end, a report describes what worked and what needs work, based on what you said. The app also offers an in-depth CV analysis, a comparison between the CV and the posting, a spoken debrief and the option to retake a question.

What Nelo is not:

  • it is not a real recruiter, nor a company that is hiring: the interview is a simulation, the questions and reactions are produced by an AI;
  • it is not a hiring prediction: the score and the report describe a practice session, never your actual chances with an employer;
  • it is not career guidance, employment law advice or a placement service;
  • it is not a listening or mental health support service. If the recruiter detects distress, it stops the session and shows support resources, nothing more.

Suggested answers, analyses and scores are indicative. An AI can be wrong, mishear a word or misread an answer. You remain the sole judge of what you take from it and of what you say in a real interview.

3. The account

Nelo works from first launch without an account: an anonymous technical identifier is created so your sessions and reports belong to you. You can sign in with Sign in with Apple at any time to find your history on another phone. Your data from the account-free period is then attached to your account.

You undertake to create an account for yourself only. You can delete your account at any time from the app's Settings. Deletion is immediate and irreversible: it erases your profile, your CVs, your postings, your sessions, your transcripts, your reports and your audio debriefs.

4. Your CV and the information you enter

Before anything is sent, the app removes from your CV, on the phone, your surname, your age, your date of birth, your address, your phone number, your email address, your personal links and sensitive details. Only your first name is kept, so the recruiter can address you. The full text of your CV never leaves your iPhone.

You undertake to enter only information you have the right to process: your own CV, and postings that are public or were sent to you. Do not import someone else's CV without their agreement. You remain responsible for the accuracy of what you tell the simulated recruiter.

5. Voice sessions

An interview is a real-time voice conversation with an AI agent. Your voice is sent to a specialist provider to be understood and to produce the recruiter's voice. Audio is not recorded. Only a written transcript is kept: it is what the report is written from, and what you can read back in the app.

The recruiter stays within the interview: it answers no other request and may end the session in case of provocation, insults or repeated wandering off topic. A session ended that way counts as a normal session.

6. What is free, what is paid

  • Free, no card required (signing in with Apple is needed for voice sessions and for any purchase, everything else works without an account): CV import and profile, one in-depth CV analysis, unlimited postings by text or file, one comparison between the CV and the posting, a two-minute Introduce yourself with its report, history and progress.
  • Premium: voice interviews of every type, from five to fifteen minutes, with every recruiter, in French and in English; the full report; the spoken debrief; retaking a question; unlimited Introduce yourself; unlimited CV analyses and comparisons; importing a posting from a web link; minute top-ups.

Premium comes with an envelope of voice conversation minutes per period: 45 minutes on the weekly plan, 100 minutes per month on the monthly and yearly plans. Each call is counted against the minutes actually used, rounded up to the minute. The spoken debrief costs one minute, once per report; retaking a question costs two minutes. Unused minutes do not carry over to the next period. A 60-minute top-up is a one-off purchase, with no renewal, and its minutes stay available for as long as the account exists.

Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least twenty-four hours before the renewal date, in your Apple account settings. The prices shown in the app are the ones that apply and may vary by country. Purchases are collected by Apple under the App Store terms. Refund requests go to Apple, the sole contact for billing. A call shorter than one minute is not counted, produces no report and does not use up the free trial.

Right of withdrawal. A subscription or a top-up is digital content supplied immediately. By taking it out, you request immediate performance and waive your fourteen-day right of withdrawal, in accordance with article L221-28 of the French consumer code. Apple, which collects the payment, applies its own broader refund policy: requests are made at reportaproblem.apple.com.

A session can only start if the envelope allows it, and that check is made server-side. Reasonable daily limits apply to every account to prevent abuse.

7. Your undertakings

  • to use the app in accordance with the law;
  • not to attempt to access anyone else's data, to work around the limits, to extract the recruiter's instructions, or to disrupt the service;
  • to enter only information you have the right to process;
  • not to use the simulated recruiter for anything other than interview practice;
  • to keep your Apple sign-in confidential.

8. Sharing a report

From a report, you can generate a PDF on your phone and send it to whoever you like. That PDF contains neither your first name nor your CV details, and quotes that would mention a first name are masked. Once sent, the document is out of the app's hands: you are responsible for who you send it to.

9. Availability and changes

Nelo is provided as is. I do what is needed for it to work, without guaranteeing uninterrupted availability, the complete absence of errors, the quality of speech recognition in every environment, or compatibility with every future version of iOS. Voice interviews depend on third-party services and an internet connection, and may be temporarily unavailable. Features, recruiters and interview types may change, be added or be removed.

With no connection, the app shows your most recent reports, postings and profile, read-only.

10. Liability

You remain the sole decision-maker over your preparation and your applications. I cannot be held liable for a decision taken on the strength of a score, an analysis or a suggested wording, for a transcription or interpretation error by the AI, for the outcome of a real interview, or for a third-party service being unavailable.

Nothing in these terms sets aside the rights French law grants consumers, in particular the legal guarantee of conformity.

11. Intellectual property

The Nelo name, its visual identity, its screens, its recruiters (portraits, voices, characters), its scoring grids and its code belong to me. The data you enter and what you say in a session stay yours: I claim no rights over them and use them for nothing other than running the service. The reports produced for you are yours to use freely.

12. Ending your use

You can stop using Nelo whenever you like, by deleting your account from Settings and then the app. I reserve the right to suspend access in case of clearly abusive or unlawful use, with prior notice except in urgent cases. A subscription in progress remains managed by Apple.

13. Changes to these terms

These terms may be amended. The update date at the top of this page is what counts, and any significant change will be flagged inside the app.

14. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by French law. In case of a dispute, an amicable solution will be sought first: write to [email protected].

Failing agreement, any consumer may use a consumer mediator free of charge, or the European online dispute resolution platform. The French courts have jurisdiction.
